COMPROMISE IN NEGOTIATION PROCESS LEAVES SPACE FOR COOPERATION

A second workshop on the Program „Share your knowledge“ was held on the last Sunday of June, with the topic about negotiation. The workshop was conducted by our alumni, Aurena Dinić, an expert for the development and education of employees in Delhaize Serbia. In an interesting and interactive manner, she brought to mind to the mentors and mentees the term and importance of negotiating, both in business and in everyday life, as well as the importance of applying certain negotiating tactics.

Participants of the international conference ’’Serbia’s Foreign Policy – between Brussels and Moscow?’’ had the chance to discuss about political and economic relations between Serbia and Russia throughout history and relations existing nowdays, as well as implications of this relations on EU accession process. Conference was held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in ’’Aeroklub’’ in Belgrade, and it was organized by The European Movement in Serbia in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

On Saturday, May 27,, at 2:00 pm at the Cultural Center “Parobrod“, the second round-table was held and it addressed the topic “Yes She Can“ within the program “Share Your Knowledge“. Mentors and mentees had the opportunity to hear the experiences of: Snežana Madžarević, the Chairwoman of the Local Community Council of Vitkovac, Jasmina Juras, the only female referee in the men's category of Euroleague, Selena Simić, drummer and Jelena Erić Rakonjac, the Vice-president of the Handball Federation of Vojvodina.


Mentors and mentees had opportunity to listen the stories of those women about how they started doing those jobs, the obstacles that they encountered, whether they had a mentor and whether they would do anything differently. The moderator was Maja Ciganović, the president of "Center for Affirmation of Women in Sport".

SCHOOL OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATIONS 2017

The School of European Integration (SEI) traditionally continues its work with the fourth generation of participants. The first lecture for the IV SEI generation was held on May 12th, in the premises of the Center for Civil Energy in Mitrovica. Nataša Dragojlović, coordinator of the National Convention on the EU, introduced the participants with the history of the European Union, the institutional structure of the EU and the decision-making processes, as well as the complementarity of EUinstitutions.

The second workshop of the program Share Your Knowledge, held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, was devoted to the road to success. Mentees and mentors learned and talked about the role and importance of an individual within a team, about setting priorities, the connection between personal and professional life, as well as the necessity of empathy in communication with others. The workshop was lead by Mirjana Gomilanović, mentor of the Program, coach, managing director and the owner of the agency One2grow.

INITIATIVE TO WITHDRAW THE GOVERNMENT’S DRAFT BYLAW WHICH RESTRICTS RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF DEFENSE

National Convention on the European Union (NKEU) and the representatives of the academia and the civil society urge the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia to withdraw the draft Bylaw on scientific and other research relevant for national defense and on the procedure and conditions for issuing permits for carrying out such research together with foreign entities or contracted by foreign entities.

Conflicts are flaring up in the Western Balkans, jeopardising not only regional relations but also the European integration process of many of the (potential) candidate countries. These recent developments have exposed the fragility of democratic systems in the region. In light of the influence of third parties in the region due to a drop in EU presence, and the erupting historic tensions, there is a profound danger to peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

WOMEN STILL HIT THE GLASS CEILING

Debate on the topic "Where is Gender Equality in Serbia today" was organized on Saturday in Valjevo within the program "Share your knowledge". Mentoring Walk was organized before the debate, with the occasion of International Women's Day, which is part of the Global Mentoring Walk coordinated by the organization Vital Voices. This year there was 130 walks held in 62 countries.

Svetlana Stefanović, project manager in EMinS, opened the debate, stressing the importance of celebreting of the International Women's Day as a symbol of the struggle of women for their rights throughout history. "Mentoring Walk raises awareness of how important is a woman's voice, and how important it is to work together on a professional and personal empowerment of young women and to strengthen their position in society, and that the program" Share Your Knowledge' contributes for seven years. But we must not forget the women who have fought to enjoy the rights that we have" said Svetlana.
