THE ANALYSIS OF TRADE AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION OF SERBIAN AND ALBANIA

In the framework of activities of the Joint Center for Albania-Serbia Relations, experts from Serbia and Albania have prepared analyses of trade and economic relations between the two countries. Serbian experts Professor Predrag Bjelić and Professor Dr. Radmila Dragutinovic Mitrovic, from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Belgrade, prepared a study on trade between Albania and Serbia and its potential, while Albanian expert Elena Pici analyzed the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Public debate with name,, What are we negotiating in the EU integration process? - Economic, business and agricultural issues“ has been organized on 12th of December 2016. in Higher business school of applied studies ,,Professor dr Radomir Bojković” in Kruševac. The debate was attended by number of students, professors, media representatives, as well as interested citizens who filled in the library till its last place.

The theme of the meeting was to work on the third section of the publication “The European Union in the Eyes of European citizens” entitled “Europe as a Life Experience,” as well as strategic communication plan of the project.

In the framework of the Joint Center for Albania – Serbia Relations’ activities, journalist from the Radio Television of Serbia visited Tirana and prepared a report on the "colored capital". More about the similarities and differences between Tirana and Belgrade, as well as the most interesting characteristics of the capital of Albania from the perspective of our journalists, is available in the report, broadcasted in the “Oko magazine” on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

EXCHANGE OF RESEARCHERS FROM SERBIA AND ALBANIA

This fall, two researchers had the opportunity to participate in the programme of study visits in Belgrade and Tirana, organized in the framework of the Joint Center for Albania – Serbia Relations. The researchers who participated in the exchange are Neda Živanović, a researcher from Serbia who spent a month in Tirana in the framework of the program, and Ledion Krisafi, an Albanian researcher who was in Belgrade for a month.

WHERE ARE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN EU ACCESSION PROCESS?

In the series of public events "I have a right to know about the EU", in Kraljevo in last Thursday was held a debate on "Challenges and opportunities of the process of European integration bring to local governments" One of the conclusions is that local governments in the negotiation process have no direct role, but indirectly via the national authorities and relevant ministries. However, a significant percentage of the EU acquis and standards are transposed into national legislation or escorted directly to the EU level, will be implemented precisely on the local level. 

THE IMPORTANCE OF MENTORING AND WOMEN SOLIDARITY FOR DEVELOPING EUROPEAN SOCIETY

Traditional Mentoring Walk was organized on November 5 and it was used to announce a new cycle of the program "Share Your Knowledge- Become a Mentor". Mentors, mentees and their guests walk on Belgrade streets with a goal to put the spotlight on women solidarity and importance of mentoring for women empowerment in Serbia. Throughout the Program, Share Your Knowledge - Become a Mentor, young women that are at the beginning of their carriers get the opportunity to learn new things from mentors, leaders from different professions. All young leaders that are interested to develop their skills with mentors support can apply for the new cycle of the Program by the end of the month. 

STANDARDS IN AGRICULTURE SHOULD BE THERE FOR US, NOT THE EU

In the Cultural Center of Novi Pazar was held the second debate within project "I have a right to know about the EU" organized by the European Movement in Serbia and the Government of Federal Republic of Germany. Given the specificity of the Sandzak region and the importance of agricultural production, we are discussed about the topic of EU agricultural policy, standards in the process of agricultural production and the possibilities offered by the IPARD program. The main thing of the meeting is that it’s important that the EU standards and requirements should be respect for our health and safety of products, increasing production and improve quality, not only because of the EU accession.

THINK TANKS IN SERBIA: IN SEARCH OF IMPACT

The European Movement in Serbia  and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung have cooperated once again and have, with joint efforts, organized a two-day conference about the role of think tanks in Serbia and the Western Balkans. The first day of the conference included a panel discussion which hosted think tankers, government officials and researchers.
