EBDR SUPPORT FOR SERBIA'S EUROPEAN PATH

President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD, Suma Chakrabarty, held a lecture about the role of the EBRD in promoting European integration and the benefits of such integration. Chakrabarty's speech was followed by a brief question and answer session at the Home of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia on Wednesday August  31.

SUPPORT IS THE KEY OF SUCCESS

On Saturday, July 30, the evaluation meeting ,,Year of progress” was held, as the last activity of the program Share your knowledge- become a mentor 2015/2016. During this meeting mentees and mentors talked about the most important moments which had the most impact on them. This was a good opportunity for them to take a look on what they did, and what they will do in the future. 

 

The final event is Mentoring Walk, which is traditional held in November, when the participants will receive certificates for taking part in the Program.

 
BREXIT WILL NOT STOP EUROPEAN INTEGRATION OF THE WESTERN BALKANS

Forum for International Relations of the European Movement in Serbia and European Movement in Serbia Network have organized a public debate on the topic "Paris summit EU and Western Balkans after Brexit", in Kragujevac, on Tuesday July 12, 2016. The debate was organized as a part of the project ,,Forum hosted”, in cooperation with Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Debate has gathered representatives of the local institutions, organizations of the civil society, academics etc.

THE PARIS SUMMIT BRINGS GOOD NEWS: THE EU STILL SUPPORTS THE ENLARGEMENT

The public debate under the name “After the Paris Summit EU and the Western Balkans“ was held on Monday, 11th july 2016, in the organization of European Movement in Serbia and the EU Info Center Belgrade (EUIC). The debate is part of a serie “European talks“ aiming at starting the discussion on major initiatives, resolutions and agreements with the Summit. The speakers, together with interested citizens, students and representatives of the civil society, discussed about the challenges the EU is currently facing, which have consequences for the candidate countries and future candidates.

SERBIA NOT TO GIVE UP ON THE EU, EU NOT TO GIVE UP ON SERBIA

The decision to leave the European Union reached at the UK referendum brings new challenges before the EU, but also for the process of enlargement to the Western Balkans, warns the European Movement in Serbia (EMinS). The desire to leave the EU is a complete novelty in the decades-long process of integration in Europe, which provided peace and prosperity for the member states, but also for the countries in the accession process. The dissatisfaction of many Europeans with the solutions, or rather the absence of effective common solutions, which culminated with referendum vote in the UK, should not be taken lightly. 

REGIONAL COOPERATION AGAINST THE FORCES OF GEOPOLITICS

Forum for international relations of the European Movement in Serbia and Fridrih Ebert Foundation, have organized a presentation and a debate of the first number of Foreign Policy Papers: Western Balkan between Geography and Geopolitics, in Belgrade, on June 24thPresident of the Forum, Ms. Jelica Minić said that the publishing of the Foreign Policy Papers is the continuation of the tradition which was established during the ‘90, with a goal to contribute to the creation of the Serbia’s foreign policy. Topics which will be discussed in next issues behind the Western Balkan cooperation will be Migrant Crisis, Paris Summit and EU crisis. She emphasized that the main idea is to present different aspects of the same topic. 

 

 

SCIENCE IS FEMININE

On Saturday 25th of June last roundtable for this Program cycle, in the framework of the program "Share Your Knowledge - Become a Mentor” was held. The topic was the status of women in science in Serbia and the world and about their personal experiences, successes and challenges and was discussed by mentees and mentors and with Marija Lesjak, assistant professor from the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad, Jelena Milić, Research Fellow at the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy Belgrade,Adriana Zaharijević, Research Fellow at the Institute for Philosophy and Social theory in Belgrade and Aleksandra Konjević, assistant professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad. The discussion was moderated by our alumna Tatjana Nikolić.

ALUMNI CLUB MEMBERS IN NON FORMAL CONVERSATION WITH SLAVICOM SQUIRE

After the establishment and the first meeting of the Alumni club in April (which the founder of the Alumni club  Jelena Ivić has already written a about), June gathering of the Club members has been organized in pleasant atmosphere of restaurant Petica. On that occasion the Club members have talked about their plans and goals with Slavica Squire, the woman that brought NLP in Serbia, the founder of NLP Institute and Coaching Academy and one of the most respected motivational speakers in the region.  

After that, alumna continues networking and intergeneration connection with lot of smile and positive energy. It is a phenomenal thing to see young women entrepreneurs, scholars, members of the state institutions and the private sector, lawyers, economists, philologists, artists helping and supporting each other. That is the biggest value of this program and one of the reasons that the Alumni club exists.

 

CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION IS AN IMPETUS FOR CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Forum for International Relations and Network of the European Movement in Serbia, organized a public debate in Kikinda on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, on the topic “Cross Border Cooperation - How to Better Use IPA Funds." The public debate was organized within the project "Forum hosted" in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and brought together representatives of local institutions, business, civil society, academia and others.

Speaker in the debate were Ivan Knežević, Deputy Secretary General of the European Movement in Serbia, Gordana Lazarević, an independent consultant and member of the Forum for International Relations and Kristina Ašković, Head of the Department of Cross-border and Transnational Cooperation with EU Member States, the Office for European Integration of the Republic of Serbia while the moderator was Dusan Vrućinić, the European movement in Serbia – Kikinda.
