REGIONAL CONVENTION ON EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

Countries of the Western Balkans are among the candidates for the next wave of EU enlargement. Yet the very Western Balkan countries are at different stages of the accession process and at different levels of implemented reforms. Experience gained so far, has proved that civil society is of great importance to the quality of the process itself, thanks to its expertise and experience in specific areas. Civil society organizations in Serbia and Montenegro formed a model of cooperation National Convention on the EU or the National Convention for Montenegro's integration into the European Union. This project has been very successful and as such is a valuable model for the exchange of knowledge and practices with neighboring countries and attempts to develop a Regional convention on European integration.

GUIDE TO EU 2020 STRATEGY - FOUR YEARS LATER

Europe 2020 is a new EU strategy which aims at economic development of the EU based on knowledge while at the same time preserving the environment, high levels of employment, productivity and social cohesion. In order to ensure that each EU member state implement the strategy Europe 2020 in a manner that is most appropriate for each country individually, the key priorities of Europe 2020 at the EU level are transferred into national objectives that each member state should achieve.

DEVELOPING STRATEGIC STUDY ON SOCIAL ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SOUTH EAST EUROPE 2020 STRATEGY

European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) and SeCons – Development Initiative Group in consortium are developing Strategic Study on Social Economy Development in the Context of the South East Europe 2020 Strategy, focusing on assessing the state of affairs in the area of social economy in the countries of South East Europe – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo*, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, in order to introduce possible regional initiatives and mechanisms which would contribute to development of social economy in all the countries, leading to more inclusive growth of individual countries and region as whole. 

Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance IPA II 2014-2020: New Opportunities and New Challenges in the Process of Accession Negotiations of Serbia with the European Union

European Movement in Serbia is organizing a Conference Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance IPA II 2014-2020: New Opportunities and New Challenges in the Process of Accession Negotiations of Serbia with the European Union, with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The conference will be held on Tuesday, December 9th 2014, in Aeroklub (4 Uzun Mirkova St, Belgrade), starting at 9 am.

EUROPEAN INTEGRATION OF THE WESTERN BALKANS - CAN THE VISEGRAD GROUP COUNTRIES SERVE AS ROLE MODELS?

The project deals with the results of the great EU expansion in 2004 and its implications for internal reforms in the Visegrad Group countries, as well as related adjustments within the EU. The project aims to identify practical lessons for Serbia and the Western Balkans, which could make the EU enlargement process towards this region faster and more efficient. Project outputs will be discussed in a public debate in Belgrade and Warsaw and widely disseminated to relevant decision makers.

SERBIA AND KOSOVO*: EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVES AND PRACTICALITIES

European Movement in Serbia in cooperation with  the Institute for Development Policy (INDEP) implemnts project from November 2013 until March of 2014  with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, which aims to contribute to mutual understanding between Belgrade and Pristina and improve overall relations.

SERBIAN - GERMAN CIVIL DIALOGUE

European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) and the European Movement Germany (EBD) as two sister organizations, with support of the Open Society Foundation, are organizing "Serbian- German civil dialogue" , which will be held in Belgrade on January 30 and 31,  2014. This event will gather many prominent representatives from the spheres of politics, business, media and civil society, both from Serbia and Germany.

Awaiting a new Constitution

Whilst awaiting constitutional revision, the European Movement in Serbia is trying to contribute to the creation of a conducive environment. The window of opportunity we aim for should legitimise the adoption of a new Constitution by having broad understanding of this procedure’s significance and the document’s importance to a democratic society.

Development of Social Entrepreneurship in Serbia

World economic crises started in 2008, and Serbia’s economy still was not prepared and strong enough for new economic reality. Country growth indicators have significantly diminished and almost stopped. In 2009 for the first time in this century the economic downturn of 3% was recorded.
